Auckland Council Libraries, in collaboration with the Genealogical Computing Group, is pleased to announce the Auckland Family History Expo 2024.

This special 10th-anniversary event, focusing on genealogy and family history, will take place from Friday, August 9 to Sunday, August 11, 2024, at the Fickling Convention Centre, 546 Mt Albert Rd, Three Kings.

The Expo will offer a comprehensive range of activities including:

  • Free seminars catering to both beginners and advanced researchers
  • Computer-based tutorials
  • Ask-an-expert sessions
  • Research assistance

Attendees are encouraged to bring their laptops for an immersive learning experience. The event kicks off on Friday with an opening event at $30 per person, covering catering expenses, while entry on Saturday and Sunday is free for all.

A highlight this year is the “Know your Pet DNA” session by Ancestry, exploring pet lineage through DNA testing, along with a grand unveiling of the DNA secrets of 10 pets.

Renowned international and local experts in genealogy and genetic genealogy will be presenting, offering attendees invaluable insights and knowledge. The Expo will also feature exhibitors from various genealogical societies and organizations, providing resources and tools for family history research.

For venue information, the Fickling Convention Centre is wheelchair accessible, and there is parking available nearby. Attendees can also enjoy onsite refreshments and nearby cafes.

Raffle tickets will be available, offering a chance to win an Ancestry subscription and DNA kit.
