Mervyn shares vivid memories of the D-Day landings, navigating a booby-trapped chateau, fighting across France into Germany, and encountering the horrors of the newly-liberated Bergen-Belsen concentration camp.
After the war, Mervyn faced challenges reintegrating into civilian life but eventually found his calling in journalism. He married, had three children, and was honoured with the Legion d’Honneur in 2015, France’s highest military award. As president of the Association of Jewish Ex-Servicemen and Women, Mervyn actively participates in commemorative events and shares his story with schoolchildren, imparting valuable lessons of resilience and generosity.
